THE CHEVY BOLT
Motor Trend’s 2017 Car of the Year has been named and it’s the 2017 Bolt EV. Two trim levels and plenty of battery power to go wheel to wheel with Tesla. Don’t get the Bolt confused with the Volt; the Bolt is Chevy’s sole all-electric car solution for drivers looking to step away from toxic fumes and pricey fuel.
1. Charge it and go the distance.
The Bolt can travel at least 238 miles on a single charge. Some tests revealed it can travel beyond 238 miles given the right conditions. That is rated farther than the Tesla. What about recharging? A 240-volt charging unit provides 25 miles per hour charge and DC fast charging stations offer 90 miles per 30 minute charge. See? Going the distance is possible.
2. Kick back and relax.
The Bolt defies physics as it is both spacious and compact. It’s easy to park and comfortable enough to sit for hours. Plus you get 16.9 cubic feet of cargo space, which means you not only have room to breathe but also room to store your many things.
3. Get more for your money.
The Chevy Bolt not only helps you save on fuel costs. It also lets you save in the car market. The Bolt EV is priced at $37,500, but when you account for the $7,500 federal tax credit given to buyers of electric vehicles, the Bolt only costs $30,000.
